Since 1921 JSE - The Japan Shipping Exchange, Inc. - has been serving the shipping industry in such ways as administrating maritime arbitration, drafting and promulgating maritime contract forms, publishing in-depth analysis on shipping and logistics in the form of monthly magazine "KAIUN", and providing electronic shipping data bases.
More than 370 companies (and organizations) join and support us in day-to-day activities in an effort to promote both domestic and international maritime transactions.
Needless to say, up-to-date and accurate information is indispensable to successfully run a business enterprise. This is particularly so in world-wide shipping circles. With more than 370 members JSE has served all aspects of the maritime industry.
JSE is a non-governmental/non-profit organization aiming to facilitate world maritime related business transactions and assist maritime organizations which carry out these transactions. The following JSE activities help fulfil these goals.
Establishment of JSE
JSE was established in 1921 along the lines of the Baltic Mercantile and Shipping Exchange of London to provide the facilities for establishing freight and/or charter contract in Japan. Nevertheless, JSE does not strictly function as a shipping exchange.
